ST. ANNE CHURCH
FRENCH VILLAGE,MO.

Rite of Christian
Initiation of Adults

The Scrutinies are solemnly celebrated on the Sundays of Lent. They are rites of self-searching and repentance and have above all a spiritual purpose. The Scrutinies are meant to uncover, then heal all that is weak, defective, or sinful in the hearts of the elect; to bring out, then strengthen all that is upright, strong, and good.

The elect are dismissed from Mass after the homily and will go to an "out of the way place" to discuss and renew after a special blessing by the celebrant from all of you. Please pray for them.

Knights of Columbus

Let us do the cooking! The finest cooks in Bonne Terre will be preparing four kinds of fish, macaroni and cheese, green beans, stewed tomatoes and slaw for your dining pleasure. Award winning home-made desserts will complete the menu. Bring your family and friends and enjoy a great meal at a great price. Serving starts at

4:00 p.m. and carry-outs are available. Adults are $7.50 and children are $3.00 per plate. Fish Fries will be held every Friday during Lent. The proceeds will be donated to St. Joseph School.

The Knights will also be collecting canned food as a donation for the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.

Trivia Night

The Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a Trivia Night on Saturday, March 28, 2009. The Knights will provide complimentary "Pizza" by Little Caesars at this fund raiser. Come and join the fun at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 7897 Berry Road, Bonne Terre. For reservations, please call Tom Willette at 358-7516 or Richard King at 358-5661. Watch this bulletin next week for more exciting details and prizes.

Laity & Family Life

Dr. Richard Johnson will present the workshop "Re-Careering: Finding Your Authentic Work in the Second Half of Life" on Thursday, March 26, 2009. If you would like to register for this workshop, please call 314-792-7183.

Lenten Reflections

What is Lent about? Lent is about making a difference in our lives and in the lives of others. We can take time this week to offer a warm smile, a friendly word, or a helping hand. Look for opportunities to offer loving, unselfish service to others. Be positive – make a difference.

Catholic Relief Services

In Oromia, Ethiopia, drought has destroyed entire regions of crops, devastating the local agriculture industry and economy. Food security is alarmingly low. At a local Catholic church in the Oromia region, hundreds of children are receiving therapeutic milk and medical treatment from Catholic Relief Services. In addition to funding relief work, the Catholic Relief Services Collection supports legal and resettlement services for refugees, advocacy, and disaster/emergency relief. When you donate to The Catholic Relief Services Collection, you give hope. Please be generous in next week’s collection.

Annual Spring Dinner

Sts. Philip and James Parish in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri will host their annual Spring Dinner on Sunday, March 29, 2009. Come and enjoy a fried chicken or ham dinner with homemade cakes and pies. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Activities include a Country Store, Cash Raffle, and Children’s Games. Please call 883-2923 or 883-3925 for directions.

Golden Anniversary

Nib and Marilyn Steiniger will celebrate fifty years of marriage at the 5:00 p.m. Mass on March 21, 2009. Father Robert J. Sullivan married Nib and Marilyn in 1959 at Our Lady of Presentation Catholic Church in St. Johns, Missouri. They have been blessed with five sons and daughter-in-laws and seven grandchildren. We join Father John in extending our congratulations and prayers for many more years of happiness.
