FUNERAL LUNCHEON

COMMITTEES

Thank you to the ones that have inquired concerning the Funeral Luncheon’s.  We could always use the help.  Ask yourself a couple of questions. Could I bring a dish and/or can I work for a little while?  If the answer to these questions is yes then please call Shirley Christopher at 358-5440 or Marie Young at 358-5682.

This weekend you will find in the pews nomination slips. This is the first step in choosing a new Parish Council.  Please do not nominate the people who are coming off the Council. They have served the Parish well.  Please take a few minutes and nominate people that you feel will represent you and your ideas.  A committee will be picked and they will call those nominated to see if they will serve.  Once this is completed a ballot will be provided. You will get to vote for a new Parish Council on April 2nd and 3rd

MATTHEW 26-28: JESUS’ LIFE-GIVING DEATH

WEEK 5 – GOLGOTHA

Matthew wrote his narrative of the Crucifixion to help us believe that in Jesus’ death God was truly at work.  Matthew shows us how the events of the Passion echo passages from the prophet Isaiah and the Psalms of the Old Testament. Matthew’s references to Scripture do not explain the mystery of Jesus’ suffering, but they do carry the message that His suffering was foreseen in the divine plan.  The death of Jesus is consistent with the design of God, who brings about the forgiveness of sins through the suffering of his sinless Son.

Coffee and Donuts will be served following the Masses this Sunday at both St. Anne and St. Joseph Parishes.  Everyone is invited to come down and enjoy the goodies and visit with your friends.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INTIATION OF ADULTS:  THE SCRUTINIES

Today is the first of three Scrutinies for the people that are studying to become members of our faith.

All will be invited to Silent Prayer: After the homily the elect with their godparents come forward.  The celebrant first addresses the assembly, inviting them to pray in silence and to ask that the elect will be given a spirit of repentance, a sense of sin, and the true freedom of the children of God.  The elect will leave the Mass at this time.

CATHOLICRELIEF SERVICES COLLECTION

Today we will have a second collection for the Catholic Relief Services formerly known as The American Bishops Overseas Appeal.  Last week we had a letter from Archbishop Burke asking for our support.  Please be generous.
