Today, at the 10:00a.m. Mass we will have the opportunity for the students of St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School to participate in the liturgy. This will be the first Children’s Mass. Cross Bearer, Anne Marie Pace, First Reader, Nicholas Boyer, Second Reader, Patrick Allen, Petitions, Brittany Ford, Gift Bearers, Robbie & Ryan Basden. The children will sing "Were You There" after communion. Immediately, after Mass you are invited to the annual OPEN HOUSE at the School for coffee and donuts. This is a great opportunity for all to see the environment that surrounds the students. Coffee and donuts will be served in the Church Hall as usual after the 7:00a.m. Mass.

IN YOUR DAILY PRAYERS

In your daily prayers, pray that God will grant your servants to see your salvation; help your servants to take up their cross with patience each day; may your servants receive from their family and friends tender care; grant that society will acknowledge and respect the dignity of the elderly and let your servants Dave Knotts, Elmer Deterding, Vivian Vogel, Joe AuBuchon, son of Bryant & Pat AuBuchon, Bernice Chamberlain and Shirley Watson, Sec. At St. Joseph at Framington return to the prayer community.

GOD’S MERCIFUL LOVE

RENEW 2002

WEEK FOUR-FILLED WITH COMPASSION CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS

We are vulnerable as we approach Jesus in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. But Jesus has promised that if we confess our sins with a contrite heart, He will forgive us through the ministry of the priest. He invites us to embark on a new life under God’s forgiving gaze.

Be sure to join your small group or pray silently for the fourth week of God’s Merciful Love.

RECONCILIATION WEEKEND 2002

Friday, March 15, 7:00-9:00p.m. Saturday, March 16, 9:00-4:00p.m.

"The Sacrament of Penance is the ordinary way of obtaining forgiveness and the remission of serious sins committed after Baptism." (from Reconciliation and Penance, Pope John Paul II)

Archbishop Justin Rigali invites all Catholics throughout the archdiocese to be part of a wonderful moment of forgiveness and reconciliation. Reconciliation Weekend 2002 will be held the weekend of March 15-16, 2002. On Friday evening, March 15th, and again on Saturday, March 16th, priests will be available at 57 churches to hear confessions. All Catholics who are able to receive this sacrament are encouraged to do so.

Confession times: Friday, March 15, from 7:00-9:00p.m. (or until finished) Saturday, March 16, from 9:00a.m.-4:00p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Park Hills

In addition to Reconciliation Weekend, we will also have a parish Lenten Penance Service with the

opportunity for confession on March 25, beginning at 7:00p.m. Extra confessors will be available.

Jesus Christ is the one in whom God shows us His compassionate heart and reconciles us fully with Himself.

FRIDAY, MARCH 8: This Fish Fry will mark the half way point. We have only three more opportunities to enjoy this delicious meal. Last Friday’s Fish Fry was another success. We served over 220 dinners. The parents of the students of St. Joseph School have been fantastic. They have provided the desserts and the needed help in cleaning the Church Hall and Kitchen. Did anyone see Father John dishing up the stewed tomatoes? Looks like we all pitched in to help. Serving time this Friday will be from 3:30p.m. til 6:30p.m. The Home and School Association have asked Mark & Shari Bonney, Mike & Rene Cook, Chris & Julie Hill, Glen & Brandolyn LaChance, Bill & Kathy Compton, Don & Stacey Finley, Gary & Linda Hoeft, John & Tina Pace and James & Susan Weber to represent their children at this Friday’s Fish Fry. Carry outs are also available.

YOU ARE INVITED

Father Edward Hilgeman served in St. Joseph and St. Anne Parishes in the 1970’s. In retirement, he is about to celebrate the 50th anniversary of his ordination. If you wish to be a part of this celebration and join us for dinner, please make reservations first by calling St. Andrew Rectory this week at 314-631-0691. Please no gifts. Father Hilgeman would appreciate seeing long time friends.

SUGGESTIONS FOR LENT

Come to our SCRIPTURE STUDY GROUP. We will meet on Monday, March18th. at 7:00p.m. in the Meeting Room. All are welcome.

FESTIVAL 2002

The winner of name the ‘FESTIVAL 2002’ contest will be announced next week. Watch for the name in the bulletin. Another meeting has taken place

and the "Core Committee" is working hard to make this the best Festival ever. May God guide them in the decisions that they make. We support them!

The idea is FREEDOM

What does freedom mean to you? Is it living in America, with all its rights and opportunities? Is it inner liberation – from fear, doubt, anger, pride, prejudice, and self-obsession? Is freedom the sum of a thousand daily liberties we take for granted? Opening a bank account. Enrolling in a course. Changing doctors-or hair color. Half the world has no idea what it means to have a choice. How fortunate we are. Thank God daily for our FREEDOM!

EXAMINATION OF CONSCIENCE

"WHAT HAVE I DONE"

God should be at the center of who I am and what I do. Have I given power over my life to another person, to my career, to greed, to desires for wealth or sexual gratification or revenge?

Have I misused the name of God or of Jesus Christ in anger, as a curse, in ridicule, or in a way that does not clearly express faith, hope and love?

Does Sunday really stand at the head of my week as the day to recall the resurrection of Jesus? Have I chosen to do things that keep me from celebrating the Eucharist on Sunday with the Church? Have I encouraged others to do things that will keep them from the Sunday Eucharist?

Have I harbored or expressed anger or resentment toward my parents, especially the elderly or infirm? Have I given bad example to my children? Does our home reflect the values of the gospel, or have we made it just an extension of popular culture?

Have I threatened anyone with physical harm? Have I inflicted physical harm on anyone-a child, a spouse, a parent, a neighbor? Do I hang onto angry thoughts? Have I said or done anything to undermine respect for the sanctity of any human life?

FUNERAL LUNCHEON COMMITTEE

It is believed that the FUNERAL LUNCHEON COMMITTEE was actually a service that was started by the Daughters of Isabella. They provided a luncheon for the family of a member that had passed away. Sometime later a FUNERAL LUNCHEON COMMITTEE was started by Father Hilgeman or Father Sigmund. Lunch is provided for friends and relatives attending parish funerals in the immediate family of a parishioner when the responsibility for the meal falls on the parishioner. This luncheon provides a quite time for the family to bond and reflect. Five committees take turn serving the meal and providing the food. A donation by the family is recommended to help continue this valuable service. If you would like to help with the luncheons please call: Faye Naused, Frances Gosling, Marie Young, MaryLou Smythe, or Shirley Christopher.

"What do you possess that you have not received? But if you have received it, why are you boasting as if you did not receive it"? Corinthians 4:7. It is never too late to make your commitment to be a steward of the Lord’s Treasures. If you have not had an opportunity to turn in your Intention Card, please do so as quickly as possible. The telephone committee will be saved a lot of effort if you get your card in this week.

I would like to THANK all that have responded so generously and to the team who is helping make this a successful campaign. I am so proud of St. Anne and St. Joseph Parishes. Others could look to us and learn.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Father John

If you are a visitor to one of our churches today, we are most happy to have you. If you are here on a semi-regular basis or now live in the area, we invite you to add your name to our parish family. Just fill out the form below and mail to the rectory or drop in the collection basket. A registration form will be sent to you.

HUMAN CLONING

Human cloning is wrong, because it dehumanizes human reproduction. All cloning treats human beings as products, as mere carriers of traits that others find useful. Cloning human embryos for research (so-called "therapeutic cloning") demeans life, by creating new human lives solely to destroy them. Cloning embryos for live birth (so-called "reproductive cloning") violates human dignity, robbing the child of a real mother and father and his or her own personal destiny. Moreover, attempts at live birth will require the "trial and error" deaths of countless human embryos. Dolly the cloned sheep was born after 276 failed attempts. The few cloned humans who survive may suffer from devastating health problems. Please contact Senator Bond and Senator Carnahan. Let them know how you feel about this important issue.
