FOCA-Freedom of Choice Act

A bill in Congress called the "Freedom of Choice Act" or FOCA represents the most serious legislative threat to unborn children ever. FOCA would create a "fundamental right" to abortion that government could not limit but would be required to fund and support.

Today you have an opportunity to sign post cards to our U.S. Representative and two Senators. The message on the cards urges our Federal officials to oppose FOCA and retain existing laws against government funding and promotion of abortion.

Please complete the cards before leaving Church today.

Knights of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus monthly Chicken and Dumpling Night will return on February 5, 2009. Serving will begin at 3:30 pm. Carry outs are available by calling 358-8701.

Catholic Schools Week
"Celebrate Service 2009"

Catholic Schools Week started early in Bonne Terre. On Friday, January 23, 2009 Monsignor Edward Rice brought some visitors to our school to discuss vocations. The day began with Monsignor Rice and Father John concelebrating Mass. After Mass the boys met with Monsignor Rice and some seminarians to discuss vocations, while the girls were meeting with some consecrated women.

In addition to all the fun things we did during the week, each class chose and planned a service project. The preschoolers hosted a "Baby Shower" for Parkland Pregnancy Resource Center. The Kindergarteners and first graders collected towels and soap for the Women’s Shelter. The second and third graders visited St. Joe Manor and took candy and lotion to the residents. The fourth and fifth graders volunteered in the Food Pantry Friday morning.

What a Faith-filled, fun-filled week!

Daughters of Isabella

Many thanks to all members who attended our January meeting welcoming our State Regent, Mary Jo Ballinger. We also would like to welcome our new members to the circle: Autumn Stegall, Alexia Hampton, Pat Schwartz, Ruth Rellergert, Kathy Lenhardt, Frances Haug, and Ethel Lyman. Welcome, ladies!

Don’t forget to pay your dues for 2009! It’s only $10.00, and can be paid at our February meeting, or mailed to Dorothy Gouin, 418 N. Long, Bonne Terre 63628.

We will have a dinner in February before our regular meeting. The theme is Italian. We’ll have lasagna and fettuccini. Please bring a side dish or dessert to complement the main course. Mark your calendar for Monday, February 9, 2009. Dinner is promptly at 6:00. See you there!

Eucharistic Adoration

Eucharistic Adoration on Friday, February 6, 2009 starts at 8:30 am and concludes with Benediction at 5:00 pm.

St. Louis Review

Dear Parishioner,

This is a most urgent request. In your January packet of envelopes was a renewal for the St. Louis Review. One way or another, we must receive a reply. If you do not want the Review it is still necessary to send in this envelope marked NO. If we do not hear from you the parish is responsible to fulfill this obligation. Last year with your help we were able to save both parishes a great deal of money. To date only one third of each parish has responded. Please let me know. You can call the parish office at 358-2112 or drop your note in the collection basket.

Parish Council

Thank you for the nominations. Each nominee will be contacted. Those who agree will be put on the ballot.

Please be a good steward to your Parish and give of your time and talent.

Feast of St. Blaise

The blessing of the throats will be after each Mass this weekend and on Tuesday, the feast of St. Blaise. This blessing reminds us of the Lord’s special care and compassion for the sick and infirm.

Have You Registered
In The Parish?

IF YOU ARE NEW TO THE AREA AND PARISH AND HAVE NOT REGISTERED, PLEASE FEEL WELCOME. COMPLETE THE FORM BELOW AND DROP IT BY THE OFFICE OR IN THE COLLECTION BASKET. A REGISTRATION FORM WILL BE MAILED TO YOU FOR YOUR COMPLETION.
