ST. ANNE CHURCH,
FRENCH VILLAGE, MO.

This year’s celebration of Catholic Schools Week at St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School begins on Monday, January 30 and concludes on February 3, 2006.  The theme is Character, Compassion, Values.

These are the planned activities:

MONDAY IS FAITH DAY:  Students will attend a “banner and flag” Mass to kick –off the week.  After Mass, students will release helium-filled balloons on the school parking lot, filled with their own personal pray petitions.  Father Jim French from Immaculate Conception Parish will pay us his annual visit and speak to the children.  At 1:30p.m. the K-6 students will bowl at Bonne Terre Bowling Center.

TUESDAY IS ROSARY DAY:  At 10:00a.m. an assembly will be held in Kreft Auditorium.  Mrs. Elaine Caray will give a presentation with costumes.  Her presentation will be on the life and times of Mary Magdalene. The students will participate in a “Living Rosary” at 1:30p.m. at the Church.  A  beautiful Rosary will be given to each child that they may keep.   The beads were made by an order of nuns who reside in Texas.  These Rosaries are special as they were taken on the recent pilgrimage and blessed at the Basilica in Lourdes.

WEDNESDAY IS MISSOURI HISTORY DAY:  Jim Caudle of the Dixie Hicks, a group that recently performed at the school, will again provide the students with a musical assembly.  He makes many string instruments, including the dulcimer and will play all of the instruments that he brings.  Each K-6 grade class will give a presentation on some aspect of Missouri history at 1:30p.m. in Kreft Auditorium.

THURSDAY IS TALENT DAY:  In the morning the schedule will be followed as usual.  The annual talent show will be held in Kreft Auditorium at 1:30p.m.  This event has gained great popularity with the kids and we are often surprised by the many various talents that are demonstrated.

FRIDAY IS PARENT APPRECIATION DAY:  Students will conclude the week’s celebration by attending another “banner and flag” Mass at 8:00a.m.  After Mass, Father John will speak on the history of our Parish Church.  Following Father’s  presentation, parents will be honored by a pancake and sausage breakfast in the Church Hall.  The pancakes will be golden, the syrup thick and hot, and the sausage zesty and sizzling.  Your choice of coffee, juice, or milk will “wash down” this great morning feast!  School will be dismissed at 11:30a.m.

Bring the family or a friend or two. All of you are most welcome!  Let’s make this year’s Catholic Schools Week one of our very best!

PARISH OFFICE HOURS

The Parish Office is open to assist you on Monday through Friday from 8:00a.m. till 3:30p.m.  The office is closed from 12:00a.m. (noon) to 1:00p.m. The office is closed Saturday and Sunday.
