CHURCH BANNER
Do you recognize the symbols on the gold banner in our
sanctuary? The theme is Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.
Jesus symbolized by the cross rising out of the world, which
represents all of us. The two fish show the dual person of Jesus, as God and man. He sent
the Holy Spirit (the dove and the flame) to give us strength and to guide us. The waves
under the earth, the wheat and grapes on either side of the cross, represent the
sacraments of Baptism and the Eucharist.
The banner helps us to think about how much God has given us and
how much He must love us.
CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Ralph and Betty Heine who will be married 62
years on January 25th. May God continue to bless them on their journey through
life.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK
MONDAY, JANUARY 26TH THROUGH FRIDAY, JANUARY 30, 2004
"A FAITH-FILLED FUTURE"
On Monday the students will attend Mass. Father John will be
talking with the students regarding the liturgical calendar of the church. He will also
discuss the type of vestment worn for each of the seasons and the sacred vessels used
during the Mass. Students will sing at St. Joseph Manor in the afternoon.
On Tuesday at 1:30p.m. a talent show will be held in the school
auditorium. Parents and friends are invited. Crazy hats will be worn in the afternoon. The
K-4 grade students will attend a concert at Powell Hall featuring the St. Louis Symphony
at 9:30 a.m. School uniforms will be the dress of the day.
Wednesday is St. Louis Day and uniforms should be worn.
Kindergarten through fourth grade students will attend an educational field trip to
Fitzs Root Beer in University City. This day will be sponsored by the Home and
School Association.
The field trip will also include the "Walk of Fame,"an
outdoor excursion conducted by the members of the Fitz Root Beer staff that will include a
detailed explanation of famous St. Louisians who have literally "left their
mark" in the sidewalks of University City.
Thursday is Pajama and Slippers, Casual Dress Day:
Catholic Schools Week would not be complete without the wearing of
pajama attire on one of the days. The students will give combined or individual class
presentations of a chosen foreign countrys way of life in the school auditorium. A
variety of information concerning each countrys culture will be offered. Parents and
friends are invited.
The theme for Friday is Family Day.
School uniforms should be worn. Students will attend Mass. After
Mass, breakfast will be served to the parents and grandparents by the students in the
church hall. Please plan on attending morning classes with your child immediately
following the breakfast and after recess. There will be an early dismissal at 11:30 a.m.
We look forward to another successful week of celebrating our
Catholic school heritage. May the theme of this years celebration be our watchword
now and always in memory of the good sisters and priests who entrusted us with the legacy
of Catholic school instruction for our children.
The ladies and guests enjoyed our Christmas party. The food,
catered by the "Heavenly Angels" was delicious.
Janet Mecey was crowned Queen for 2004.
We would like to thank the members who brought cookies and
goodies for the party. All of the extras were made into baskets and sent to the shut-ins
that are living in the nursing homes.
