MATTHEW 26-28: JESUS’ LIFE-GIVING DEATH

Catholic Perspectives: Six Weeks with the Bible is a Scripture study series that invites adults to explore teachings contained in Sacred Scripture and apply these teachings to daily life.  The program began last fall with a study of the Sermon on the Mount from the Gospel of Matthew.  Small groups of adults and young adults from our parish gathered once a week for six weeks to pray, to study Scripture, to reflect, and to share faith. The Six Weeks with the Bible series will continue this Lent.  The series booklet we will use for Lent is entitled Matthew 26-28: Jesus’ Life-Giving Death.  It focuses on the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus as told in the Gospel of Matthew.   It provides a six-week program of ninety- minute sessions that combine Scripture readings, questions for reflection and faith sharing, suggestions for prayer, and supplementary readings.  This is the perfect Lenten resource for adults who are looking for a way to grow in faith and discipleship.  Each booklet in the Six Weeks with the Bible series is independent of the other booklets in the series.  It is not necessary to have participated in the fall program to participate in the Lenten program. Matthew 26-28:  Jesus’ Life-Giving Death will be an excellent Lenten tool for adult Catholics of all ages: parents, teachers, and catechists, inquirers, candidates, and catechumens in the (RCIA); members of small church communities; and all adults who are seeking ways to grow in faith.  We invite all the adults and young adults of our parish to take part in this program.  We encourage you to respond to this opportunity to grow in faith and discipleship. We will offer this program at  various times and locations in our parish.

UNTITLED

Someone once said that an optimist stays up until midnight to see the New Year; a pessimist stays up until midnight to make sure the old year leaves.  The New Year is a terrific time for a fresh start, particularly in the attitude department.  If your outlook on life is down more than up, take advantage of the new calendar and change your perspective.  Everyone faces adversity and difficult times. The challenge is to remember that the situation is usually only temporary.  Find your silver lining- the place where you can feel hopeful again.  To do that look at your situation realistically and then make adjustments.

Tip of the week: Invest in precious metal: silver linings and golden opportunities.
