MATTHEW 26-28: JESUS’
LIFE-GIVING DEATH

LENT 2005

Matthew 26-28: Jesus’ Life-Giving DeathSCRIPTURE STUDY PROGRAM BEGINS WEEK OF FEBRUARY 6!

Catholic Perspectives: Six Weeks with the Bible is the name of a Catholic Scripture study series for busy adults and young adults who are seeking ways to deepen their faith but do not have the time to commit  to long-tern programs.  The Six Weeks of the Bible series explores the meaning of passages from Sacred Scripture in relation to Catholic Tradition and gives participants opportunities to reflect on how the teachings contained in the Scriptures apply to daily life.

Each booklet in the series offers small groups of adults a six-week program of ninety-minute sessions that  combine Scripture readings, commentaries on the readings, questions for discussion and faith sharing, suggestions for prayer and supplementary readings.  Last fall parishioners reflected on the teachings Jesus gave us in the Sermon on the Mount.  For the coming Lent, we are inviting parishioners to reflect on the story of the Passion, Death, and Resurrection on Jesus as told in the Gospel of Matthew.  The study guide we will use is entitled MATTHEW 26-28: JESUS’ LIFE-GIVING DEATH.   We invite all the adults and young adults of our parish to sign-up for a wonderful Lenten opportunity to grow in faith.  Each booklet in the Six Weeks with the Bible series is independent of the other booklets in the Lenten program.

Matthew 26-28: Jesus’ Life-Giving Death
is for adults of all ages: parents, teachers, and catechists; inquirers, candidates, and catechumens in the RCIA classes; members of small church communities; and all adults and young adults who are searching for ways to grow in faith.

Each session will use a small-group faith sharing format and will invite participants to learn, to pray, to share faith, and to grow in discipleship as they grow in their understanding of the teachings of Jesus.
