ST. ANNE CHURCH
FRENCH VILLAGE, MO.
You will
notice that all lectors, special ministers and servers have been scheduled for a month at
a time. Upon looking at the schedule I observed that we have a total of three servers. We
do have two alternates for emergencies. If you or someone you know (youth or adult) that
would like to be a server please contact the parish office and I will get in touch with
them.
Father John.
A special thank you to those that work the
Bingo on Thursday evenings. A check in the amount of $17,000.00
was given to the parish to help with the expenses at the school. Without your continued
effort and support these funds would not be available.
A NEW MINISTRY
Starting this week I have added a named Cross Bearer that
appears on the list of LITURGICAL ASSISTANTS. Each mass I have had to look for someone to
carry the cross. It seems that I have to keep asking the same people over and over. If you
would like to become a Cross Bearer please call the office as we are preparing a list. It
can be a man, woman or young adult. Anyone that is strong enough to place the cross in its
holder easily. Please watch for your name.

DAUGHTERS OF ISABELLA

EPIPHANY OF THE LORD
December 27, 2006
Father John,
This note is to thank you for the privilege to serve as a bell
ringer.
Last year when the weather was much colder and we had too stand
inside the lobby area, it was difficult to not overhear the man on the public telephone
calling to see if the utility company had turned off his heat or if he could still make
the payment so a hook-up charge would not be incurred. When he finished the call he went
inside to purchase a few items, but upon leaving he came by the kettle and dropped a
dollar in for the "truly needy."
This year as I was taking the kettle into the store to be put into
the vault overnight, I heard a voice with an impediment say, "Wait, wait."
Looking up I saw what many would say was a typical Downs syndrome child.
I am really never able to determine the age of a victim of this
condition, perhaps on e of the blessings God grants to them. But there was his Mother,
again typical, probably in her seventies, who most certainly had this blessed child late
in life, looking in her purse while her child looked on with eagerness with his hand out.
When she handed him the money, he quickly came to me, and I asked
if he waned to put his money into the kettle. He smiled his amazing smile and dropped in
his 15 cents. I said thank you and Merry Christmas as he put out his hand for me to shake.
I later told my spouse to "break my arm" if I ever pass
another bell ringer and do not put in my "15 cents"
On behalf of all, I leave this unsigned so that you will know that
the blessings received from the money raised by the bell ringers are not only for the
needy but also for those of us who have the privilege to help.
